The objective of this study was to measure the effects of oral health status on the quality of life, and to describe utilization of dental care services among senior adults aged 65 to 74 years in Hadxaifong District, Vientiane Capital, Lao P.D.R.

Why is it important?
A cross sectional study was designed and a total of 232 older adults aged 65–74 years were selected by convenience sampling. Participants responded to questionnaire and were clinically examined for dental caries, periodontal status, and tooth loss using standard WHO criteria.
Perspectives
Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) is located in a landlocked area surrounded by China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar. According to the National Statistics Center, the population is estimated at 7,062,214 [1].
