What is it about?
Background: Cutaneous melanoma represents one of the most frequent cancers in the adult population and accounts for more than 80% of skin cancer deaths. Due to pharmacological innovations, there is an increased chronicization of the disease, so the concept of quality of life becomes increasingly important.

Why is it important?
The purpose of this study was to assess the psychological and social impact of advanced melanoma, thus the influence of the disease in the relationship with one's body, on the relational sphere, on ways of coping with the event, and on the perceived quality of life.
Perspectives
Malignant melanoma (MM) is a skin cancer arising from melanocytes, its incidence is increasing worldwide and represents a significant public health challenge. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), cutaneous melanoma is the sixth most common cancer globally, with more than one million new cases diagnosed each year, and despite constituting only 1% of skin cancers, it accounts for more than 80% of skin cancer deaths [1].
