What is it about?

Most studies have focused on the entrepreneur in the single business context. But a high proportion of entrepreneurs own and manage several businesses concurrently, and these portfolio entrepreneurs are often associated with high-growth businesses.

Why is it important?

The paper focuses on growth by adding (and subtracting) businesses from an ongoing portfolio over time. Thus, it explores a different mode of growth. Previous studies have focused on either the human capital attributes of portfolio entrepreneurs or the dynamics of their portfolios. Here the focus is on how these individuals develop and manage the portfolios over time.

Perspectives

We hope to add to existing perspectives by focusing on how these entrepreneurs are able to develop and manage complex portfolios and the relationships involved in this process.
