What is it about?
Population prevalence of birth defects and genetic conditions is a challenging and expensive task. It was possible to proceed with such study in Oman thanks to good coverage by genetic services, well structured centralized medical services and assistance from National maternal and child health services.

It is important for planning genetic services and National Preventive Strategies. With disappearance of infections and malnutrition genetic diseases becoming a challenge to public health as prevalence of handicapping genetic diseases rises year by year by birth cohort. Preventive genetic services can save National Resources
