What is it about?
This article describes the situation of elite women in Iranian society through the lens of the daughter of the shah and the daughter of a nomadic tribe chief. It studies gender and sexuality by building its arguments around these two memoirs.

Why is it important?
These texts have not been studied enough. Bibi Maryam's memoirs are not even completely translated into English. This paper translated some parts, in addition, employed some gender theories to analyze them.
