Caryl Emerson wrote her review of my book for Comparative Literature Studies--and when it was twice too long (a very familiar problem for me as well), she convinced them to turn it into a forum. I responded to her; she responded to me.

Why is it important?
This forum adds depth and complexity to the book's argument--where in fact I engage Emerson's take on Tolstoy, Shklovsky, and Bakhtin, but not deeply or complexly enough.
Perspectives
A wonderful experience for me, being read so sensitively and sympathetically by the great translator and scholar of Bakhtin and Russian classics.
