What is it about?

This study considered what happened in the pelvic bone after the implant of Trabecular Titanium hip cups. Trabecular Titanium is a special material that is made from titanium powder using a special electron bean melting machine. So it is not a coating and it is highly bio-compatible.

Why is it important?

Osteointegration is the most important process that allow the hip cups to be fixed and to achieve good clinical results. Measuring the bone density with the DEXA analisys is the most reliable, less invasive, method to see what the bone remodeling do around the prosthetic cups.

Perspectives

The study is ongoing and I hope to publish the data after 5 years follow-up.
