This review on an important clinical finding, the presence of small quantities of blood in urine, has been prepared by a group of medical students and their nephrology professor with the aim of giving an overview of the issue, easy to read and to understand. Focus on the 'point of care' topic was introduced because of the journal in which it has been published

Microhematuria is a clinically relevant issue which is often overseen by practicing physicians. The article addresses the pros and cons of using point of care diagnostic tools in this area of clinical practice
Perspectives
I ho0pe that this collective work with students will benefit other students and fellows by focusing their attention on the importance of testing urine abnormalities
