What is it about?
Establishing treatment efficacy is an essential aspect of evidence-based psychological practice (EBPP). However, exactly how different elements of psychotherapy interact and contribute to healing is still debated. In addition, challenges related to classifying mental disorders makes it difficult to answer the question of what defines effective psychotherapy. The goal of this article is to explore how clinicians can make informed choices about how to choose treatment methods within the framework of EBPP. I argue that EBPP should be conceptualised as a dynamic process of hypothesis-based testing of treatment methods in consultation with the patient.
