What is it about?

This study looks at the growing use of stickers—small images or animations used in messaging apps like WhatsApp—especially among young people in Spain. While emojis remain the most popular visual tool, the research finds that young people prefer stickers because they are funnier and can be customized. The study also explores how stickers share similarities with humorous memes and considers their impact on digital communication. Ultimately, the findings suggest that stickers could influence how language and communication evolve in the digital age.
