What is it about?

The study is about gender bias in AI systems. It adopts a feminist approach using the African Union Strategy for Gender Equality & Women’s Empowerment as a methodological tool to investigate the integration of women in the development, use and protection of AI policies in African.

Why is it important?

Bias, particularly gender bias is common in AI systems. It is important for laws to mainstream gender into AI policies in order to protect women and marginalised groups who may be negatively impacted by such systems.
