What is it about?
The sudden stratospheric warming (SSW) is the most important effect in the wintertime higher-latitude stratosphere. They appear often at the Northern Hemisphere (NH) but rarely at the Southern Hemisphere. This paper compares properties of NH and SH SSWs as revealed by various meteorologcal reanalyses.

Why is it important?
Properties of NH and SH SSWs have not yet been compared except for their occurence frequency.
Perspectives
The results should help to understand deeper the different pattern of NH and SH SSWs.
