What is it about?
Hernando Colón (1488-1539), son of Admiral Christopher Columbus, tried to assemble a universal library, in which the works of Erasmus of Rotterdam had a privileged place. We propose to identify bibliographically all the editions and works of Erasmus collected by Hernando Columbus in his library. For this purpose, we analyze the preserved copies and, for those not preserved, which are the great majority, the data collected in the bibliographic repertoires created by Hernando Colón himself. We also offer a list of the works and subjects that appear in the editions, as well as the prices, places of purchase and dates on which they were acquired.
