Why is it important?
If it is proven that 1st cervical vertebra variations are associated with intracranial vascular variations like vertebral arter hypoplasia, treatment planning will be more accurate.
Perspectives
If intracranial vertebral artery hypoplasia is associated with arcuate foramen variation, decompression of the extracranial vertebral artery may not be considered for treating the Barré–Lièou syndrome symptoms.
