Why is it important?
Virgin Islands Dutch Creole is one of few Dutch related Creole languages. However, it was already studied in the eighteenth century. It has a written tradition from about 1739 on. A great number of eighteenth century texts are made digitally available by us. This anthology presents samples which present insight in language history of this Creole language.
