What is it about?
An introduction to a book on academic working lives in which we discuss one of our major areas of work. With so much attention, analysis and measurement given to the more visible aspects of academic performance - teaching hours, exam scripts marked, candidates credentialized, funds secured, research as published units - there is surprisingly little attention given to the manner and methods by which academics actually do their work. This book seeks to make visibly some of these stories.
