What is it about?

Attempting to reproduce a prominent publication around microplots to test the original results and conduct a few pre-planned robustness checks.

Why is it important?

While most scientists, and the general public, believe science (and publications) are reproducible, we find that they often are not. In this paper, we explain how we planned to reproduce a publication on microplots. Unfortunately, the original authors refused to share the data with us, so the paper will not proceed beyond the planning stage.

Perspectives

It was great for us to find an outlet for this paper. We had high hopes of actually conducting the replication study but it was not meant to be.
