What is it about?
The aim of this work was to generate a chemically modified surface of two commercial magnesium alloys with a glass coating made by sol gel. The produced bioactive layer has proven bonding to soft and hard tissue, becoming itself a good strategy to retard the hydrogen evolution and accelerate the deposition of a hydroxyapatite layer.

Why is it important?
Hidrogen evolution and fast degratation of Mg alloys are a problem of corcern in firs stage of implantation, so their control is important. Besides the coating itself has bioactive characteristics becoming an interesting strategia to enhance bone healing.
Perspectives
I hope this article present a new perspective to Mg alloys to overcome the difficulties that we all experiment when working with a such a reactive alloy.
