What is it about?
Our narrative literature review delves into the concept of prison social climate, exploring the factors that shape the experience of living and working in prison. Literature shows that positive perceptions of the prison environment are linked to better mental health, lower rates of aggression, and reduced recidivism. We provide insights into the theoretical foundations of the prison social climate concept. We present the first assessment instruments, focusing on developing the Measuring the Quality of Prison Life (MQPL) tool. Join us in unravelling the dynamics of life behind bars.
