What is it about?

he Catholic Church in Brazil has proposed as its theme for the 2025 Fraternity Campaign (CF 25) “Fraternity and integral ecology”, and as its motto: “God saw that everything was very good! ” (Gen 1:28). Starting from the text of Zech 7:11-12a, this study asks itself about the capacity of the Brazilian faithful to listen to the calls to conversion proposed by the various Fraternity Campaigns dedicated to socio-environmental themes, evoked in the first part. Then, based on Laudato Sí’ and the CF 25 Base Text, this study looks at the understanding of “integral ecology” proposed by the magisterium of Pope Francis and the Church in Brazil, pointing out, in the third part, some considerations on the importance of thinking about integral ecology in dialogue with the principles of responsibility and solidarity.

Why is it important?

The issue of ecology is a burning one and one of the most important at this stage in the history of the planet and humanity. The Church's theology and pastoral work need to focus more and more on this issue so that an “ecological conversion” can take place.

Perspectives

Discuss the issue of ecology within the church and society as a whole.
