This book written and co-edited book by Peter Hall and Kathy Pain with contributions by an international expert academic team, provides an authoritative reference on the emergence of polycentric mega-city regions in North-Western Europe. Quantitative and qualitative evidence from a multi-methods analysis of eight polycentric urban regions reveals distinctions between regional development processes, and identifies challenges for governance to promote sustainable development.

Perspectives

It has been a privilege to have been able to conduct the underpinning research for this landmark empirically informed analysis with the benefit of major funding from the European Development Fund (INTERREG IIIB NW Europe) and support from government bodies in the eight participating regions.
