Why is it important?
Chapter 5 in a volume 'Money, Currency and Crisis: In Search of Trust, 2000 BC to AD 2000', Routledge Explorations in Economic History (2018) dedicated to money and monetary history through the ages. It covers 2000 years of ancient Mesopotamian history and contributes to the understanding of money and monetary policy from ancient times to the modern world.
Perspectives
As an historian and assyriologist I am fascinated by the possibilities that the ancient cuneiform texts give for writing economic history.
