What is it about?
The chapter begins with a brief background of ISMA, before proceeding to discuss its place within the global, regional and Malaysian contexts of non- violent extremism. The authors then discuss how ISMA’s discourse underwent radicalisation at the hands of Middle Eastern-oriented religious leaders.

Why is it important?
This chapter draws heavily from the present authors’ participant observation exercise conducted among the rank- and- file of a Malay- Muslim nativist group, the Muslim Solidarity Front (ISMA: Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia) spanning the years 2010– 2018.
