What is it about?

With the COVID-19 pandemic rapidly changing daily lives, consumers are seeking out information on how to keep themselves and their food safe from the virus. YouTube is a platform where anyone regardless of expertise can post videos for the public. _x000D_ This study evaluated COVID-19 related food safety information that is being disseminated through YouTube videos. There was also a focus on government citations, scientific experts, and healthcare professionals. We found that there was spread of misinformation about food safety in relation to COVID-19. This paper also discussed food safety knowledge gaps that healthcare professionals have and how educational interventions are needed to reduce the risk of spreading misinformation especially by those in authority.
