Multiplex qPCR analysis of strawberries from Bogota, Colombia for contamination with three parasites

What is it about?

Samples of strawberries from Colombia were analyzed for contamination with three specific foodborne parasites using a sensitive molecular detection method. Among 120 samples, 6 (5 %) were positive for Toxoplasma gondii and 1 (0.8 %) was positive for Cyclospora cayetanensis. These results indicate the potential for strawberries grown in Colombia to be vehicles of infection for these parasites.
