What is it about?

Although food additives are widely used in processed food under the safety regulation of the government, there are perception gaps on the safety of food additives among various groups in Korea. Even the educators including nutrition teachers and teachers did have biased perception on food additives, therefore, the necessity of risk communication toward these groups was suggested.

Why is it important?

Food safety is the top priority among the Korean consumers; however, due to the lack of sound risk communication, opinion leaders including NGO, nutriton teachers and general teachers have biasd perception on food additives. Food scientists, food educators and governmental officers should acknowledge such gaps and try to develop effective communication strategies.
