What is it about?
This work demonstrates that aflatoxin present in contaminated almonds may be present in the oil produced from those almonds. We showed that the amount of aflatoxin in the oil was related to the amount of aflatoxin in the almonds, but not related to oil quality (rancidity). We showed that mineral clays used for refining oil also functioned to remove aflatoxin from contaminated oil.
