What is it about?

Students hostels in rural communities need to be conducive for reading and learning activities because this is the home for learners who stay away from their parents during the school term. Violence that goes unsupervised comprises security and the very educational reasons for staying in a hostel. The hostel has to be nurtured to make it conducive for learners to do their homework or other learning activities.

Why is it important?

A hostel that is characterized by violence and reports are unrecorded jeopardizes the future of learners because they run away from it and hence do not complete their primary education.

Perspectives

Government should put measures in place to make sure that hostels in rural communities fro primary school going children are safe, monitored and supervised night and day.
