Survival from rabies in a young child from India

What is it about?

A case report of exceptional survival from rabies encephalitis in a young male child from Maharashtra, India, following a Category III exposure and near-total post-exposure rabies prophylaxis

Why is it important?

This case adds to the series of rabies survivors from India, and is the first published report such survival in a patient with a history of emergent treatment with artesunate (an antimalarial drug recently reported to have inhibitory effects on rabies virus in vitro and in vivo).
