What is it about?
The paper presents findings of a mixed methods study conducted in Kwale County, Kenya. We sought to understand the knowledge, attitudes and practices towards scabies, a neglected tropical skin disease.

Why is it important?
Scabies is rarely given priority as a public health disease as it rarely results in death or hospitalization. It is among NTDs mapped for elimination by WHO by 2030. Despite this the disease continues to be neglected. Understanding community views and perceptions is crucial towards the eliminationj agenda.
Perspectives
Scabies continues to ravish communities especially children under 10 years of age. Early seeking of care is hindered by stigma from belief that persons suffering from scabies have HIV/AIDS. Community awareness is crucial to dispel such myths and improve the health seeking behaviour.
