What is it about?

Organic Geochemical Evaluation of Cretaceous Potential Source Rocks, East Sirte Basin, Libya

Featured Image

Why is it important?

A variety of organic geochemical analyses were applied to set of rock extracts from the East Sirte Basin (Libya). Results of this study support the understanding that the Sirte Shale formation (Campanian/Turonian) is the main source rock in this petroleum region with an indication of the geochemical evaluation of other formations in agree- ment with other available studies.

Perspectives

The purpose of this paper was to studya total of ninety-nine Cuttings samples from seven Cretaceous for- mations by Rock-Eval screening, and 21 samples were subjected to more detailed biomarker analyses.
