Why is it important?

It provides a new insight to urban planners from the first person's experience.

Perspectives

Phenomenology is increasingly used as philosophy and research method in natural and social science as neuroscience, anthropology and in humanities as it does not treat humans as objects of scientific analysis. It describes objects, emotions, feelings in their pure form as they appear in human consciousness, Therefore, the paper reviewing all approaches reaches the conclusion that human surroundings for improvement in any urban development or renewal programme can be understood from the subjective experience of individuals. If phenomenological approach adopted in this context, it will help in mobilising community to improve the liveability of their place/habitat.
