Why is it important?
Social media is used more and more by everyone in more and more ways. The regulatory framework for the use of social media in tracking, monitoring and reporting adverse drug reactions is very limited and falls well short of what is required.
Perspectives
Given how much social media has reframed our interactions with the medical world via health apps, doctors on line etc it is important that we are aware of the power, the opportunities and challenges of using social media to report adverse drug reactions and in the area of pharmacovigilence
