What is it about?

This research was to evaluate the effectiveness of the use of solid waste date (SWD) as a low-cost natural agro-industrial material, in improving crude oil biodegradation in contaminated sea water.

Why is it important?

The obtained results revealed that SWD was very efficient in improving the biodegradation of high-concentration crude oils that contaminate sea water.

Perspectives

The effectiveness of nutrients as SWD supplements in increasing the biodegradation rate of crude oil was investigated via RSM. The use of SWD is presented as an attractive option because of its versatility, biodegradability, ecological safety, and environmental suitability.
