What is it about?

C. cassia (Lauraceae) also known Chinese cassia or Chinese cinnamon, is considered one of the fundamental herbs in traditional Chinese medicine. Medicinal use of cinnamon dates back approximately 5000 years, and it is traditionally used as astringent, antiseptic, and used to treat nausea, flatulence, and diarrhea. Cinnamon is suggested to have antifungal, antiulcer, chemopreventive, antispasmodic, and hypolipidemic activities. The relationship between antioxidant properties and antidiabetic effect of various solvent extract of C. cassia remains unclear. Hence, the present study is planned to study the antioxidant properties and antidiabetic effect of various solvent extracts of C. cassia.
