What is it about?

The aim of the study are to assess consciousness, perspective, and implementation of selective grinding in complete dentures among prosthodontic postgraduates (PGs) in India and clinical experience in the field of complete dentures. This information will also act as a groundwork for the need and appropriate designing of continued professional development educational programs in this area.

Why is it important?

A pretested, self‑administered, and closed‑ended questionnaire comprising different sections formed the survey instrument. A structured questionnaire containing 14 questions was framed. A specially created web‑designed survey in Google Forms was circulated among prosthodontic PG students and the responses were recorded. The questionnaire consisted of 11nondemographic questions. About 67.5% of the responses were correct. The outcome of the study can be considered fair.

Perspectives

The majority of the prosthodontic PGs were fairly aware about the discrepancies in occlusal interferences as well as the methods of implementation to get rid of them while maintaining proper dental harmony and occlusal equilibrium without compromising patient health. This study is conducted as an online questionnaire has its limitations in testing and evaluation, but the actual clinical application of the participants on a day‑to‑day basis is highly questionable and the drawback of this study. Regardless of the fair conclusion, the need for relevant instructions and demonstrations is ever required.
