What is it about?

Horos based virtual dissection is an improvisation of already available functionality in a freely available Mac-based open-source software to modify volume rendering which in turn permits enhanced 3D visualization of intracardiac anatomy.

Why is it important?

A detailed assessment of the intracardiac anatomy of normal and malformed hearts is important for the management of various structural heart diseases. The paper provides a detailed description of how exactly virtual dissection can be achieved from CT angiographic datasets without needing costly software.

Perspectives

Horos based low-cost virtual dissection images provide an excellent 3D view of intracardiac anatomy. No need for costly software and ease of achieving virtual dissection makes it an attractive tool for education and clinical decision-mkaing.
