What is it about?

Truncal obesity can influence respiratory mechanics regardless of the body mass index (BMI) (which is calculated index indicating the degree of the body built). This study evaluated the impact of truncal obesity on both spirometry and impulse oscillometry (IOS) (which are 2 tests for measurement of lung function and performance)

The present study aimed to evaluate the impact of truncal obesity on both spirometry and impulse oscillometry (IOS) measures.

Perspectives

Obesity is proved by this study to have negative impact on respiratory system performance which may direct attention to alter the management and take the body built (especially the obesity of the truncal type) in consideration and use weight loss as an impotant sttep in treatment of some related respiratory diseases.
