Choice of tube type in paediatric population,the study result is cuff tube is better for both intraop and post op period.

Why is it important?

Uncuffed tube is generally being used in paediatric population worldwide for operative procedure with the idea that cuffed tube can cause injury and oedema.but the chance of accidental extubation is much more and oral pack given with cuffed tube can cause postop sore throat.Cuffed tube if used with cuff pressure monitor it can avoid all the complications mentioned above.

Perspectives

Debate of cuffed and uncuffed tube in pediatric population is a burning issue.Cuffed tube if can be used with cuff pressure monitor it prevents accidental extubation,postop sore throat and child gets back his/her voice and resume normal feeding earlier.
