What is it about?

A 34‑year‑old patient with a swelling over the upper eyelid for nearly 1 year was seen in our clinic. The history, examination and investigations were suggestive of a simple, benign lacrimal gland tumor. The tumor and lacrimal gland were removed. Subsequent histopathological examination revealed the tumor was a "Primary ductal adenocarcinoma of the lacrimal gland". This is a very rare tumor with less than half a dozen cases reported so far.

Why is it important?

Tumors of the lacrimal gland can have varied presentations. Our case is unique and rare.

Perspectives

We had an interesting insight into this patient following histopathological examination. My colleagues also helped in preparation of the article and management of the case.
