What is it about?

In this study, we tried to discover which factors are responsible for young people developing an intention to start their own business. We found out that attending an entrepreneurship education programme together with having achievement motivation and a supportive family leads to higher entrepreneurial intentions among South African young people.

Why is it important?

This is important in order to understand what successfully leads young people to intend to start their own business, which has implications for entrepreneurship education and training efforts, both by government, business and the civil sector.

Perspectives

It was worthwhile conducting this study in South Africa and discover that there are unique dynamics among the catalysts of youth entrepreneurial intentions.
