Why is it important?

We describe the topical organization and structure of an expository-argumentative speech. This is important because topical organization is common to all discourse, but it may vary considerably according to different discourse features, such as oral/written, formal/informal and purpose of discourse. Political discourse, in this case speech, is interesting because it is a complx combination of features, of argumentative and persuasive kind.

Perspectives

Writing this article was a great pleasure, because I have long worked on topic and topical organization, but having Professor Luis Cortés as co-author, who is a great expert in political discourse, made me reflect on the features of political discourse.
