What is it about?

Fungus growing termites are difficult to control by baits using chitin synthesis inhibitors. First time in Pakistan we reported the role of fipronil baits (inside larger stations) to eliminate/reduce the foraging colonies of a fungus growing termite, Microtermes mycophagus. Colonies were eliminated in 45-90 days after baiting.

Why is it important?

our findings suggest that fipronil baits could be effective against other termites too.
