What is it about?

There proposed system and equipment, which allows to suppress vibrations in controlled manner with minimum energy applied. Electrically driven properties of smart liquids allows to create simple and efficient ways to control damping and suppress vibrations.

Why is it important?

This is important to achieve vibration suppression in real mechanical systems as well as robotic implementations. In case of non stiff systems, like robotic machining and other robot implementation, vibration amplitudes can exceed acceptable values and this will prevent proper implementation of system. In other hands, damper should not prevent movement of robot arm. Proposed method solves both tasks.

Perspectives

This publication opens a set practical methods for controlled damping in robotics, where robotic arm cannot be damped from their hinges. As all proposed methods on suppression of vibration this paper brings a fresh view to the mentioned problem.
