What is it about?

In-mould decoration is one of injection moulding technique integrated all decorative patterns into the thin-film then forming to be a shape and finalized by back-molding together with plastic resin.

Why is it important?

In-mould decoration is one of injection moulding technique which is well applicable to create decorative patterns for injection moulding components. These technology leads to reduce secondary process of screening as well as enhancing durability of decorative patterns. We’ve studied the weak points of manufacturing process where defects can be occurred easily then we applied the DMAIC six sigma methodology applicable with design of experiments to analyze root causes and find optimal solution for improvement.

Perspectives

I hope this article will be useful for all who interested in this fields. Not only new injection technology for decorative injection components but also introduce a process improvement by statistical tools applied in this article leading to reduce defects and manufacturing cost as well.
