What is it about?

Curing requires temperature treatment. Microwaves can help speeding up the process and save energy also. At least it is worth thinking about this heating technology when working with resins and carbon.

Why is it important?

Our findings show that you can save time and energy by using microwave technology in the right way and the right recipient. Thus, microwaves should be considered when looking into faster and energy efficient process developments.

Perspectives

Tempering or curing of thick-walled CFRP parts is not an easy taks. At specific dimensions you more or less have to rely on heat conduction by one or the other heating Technology. But you can speed up the process by an initial "boost" with the right radiation Technology. Specifically carbon fibers have a high absorption rate for microwaves and favours this technology.
