What is it about?
Mechanical properties and thermal properties of Poly(lactic acid), PLA, was affected by the addition of different molecular weight of Poly(ethylene glycol). The addition of peroxide and organic modified clay also effect both properties.

Why is it important?
Toughening PLA is very important. Incorporating PEG into PLA could toughen PLA, however, lowering stiffness of PLA is inevitable. Organic modified nano clay therefore was added. In order to avoid PEG to migrate, peroxide was also added.
Perspectives
I hope this article could give the information about toughening PLA and the information related to dispersion of nano-clay. The technique of master batch clay was also introduced and gave better dispersion than addition of clay to the blend directly .
