What is it about?

Nanoparticle films are a proper candidate for sensors of deformation, as they show a high conductivity change to small deformations. We studied how the interparticle distance varies with the stretching of the nanoparticle film and thus could address the mechanism of the electrical conductivity change.

Why is it important?

We directly observed the interparticle distance change upon the deformation by the small angle x-ray scattering (SAXS) technique.
