What is it about?
The article is about the effect of adding flame retardant agents in certain amount of mixture on wood plastic composites (WPCs). Knowing that it is important to have fire resistance characteristic in wood based products therefore the incorporation of fire retardant agents will not only improves the fire resistance properties of WPCs but also its mechanical and physical properties.

Why is it important?
Safety issues always demand flame resistant materials especially for building construction and consumer products. There are many flame retardant chemicals that proven to be effective in suppressing the flame behaviour of the WPCs but most of them are found harmful to the environment.
Perspectives
This article aim to improvise particularly on flame resistant properties of wood plastic composites (WPCs) so that it can inspire more research towards the innovation of WPCs.
