Affordable Knee Prosthesis

What is it about?

The relatively high cost of prosthetic presents problems for amputee in Indonesia. In an attempt to provide affordable high performance leg prosthetic, a four-bar linkage based knee prosthesis is developed. This paper presents the stress analysis of the leg prosthesis.

Why is it important?

This work stemmed from the fact that may Indonesian amputees come from low income families, thus could not afford good prosthesis. Effort to properly design the prosthesis, including the knee were put forth in order to come up with affordable design.
